The Avator 7.5e electric outboard, when tested on a 13-foot Veer V13 boat, offers a range of up to 5 miles or 60 minutes at full throttle using a fully charged 1kWh battery (per Mercury Marine’s website). At a lower throttle of 25%, it can run for up to 19 hours or cover 34 miles. The actual range and runtime depend on factors like boat type, load, and conditions. Designed for easy portability and simple operation, the Avator 7.5e is comparable in performance to a 3.5hp four-stroke outboard, making it ideal for small boats. It includes a 110W charger that fully recharges the battery in about 9.5 hours, with an optional 230W charger available during the offer period, reducing charge time by half. Charging can be done via a standard household outlet.

🛝 RECREATIONAL

Eighteen-year-old Harry Besley has successfully completed his ambitious journey to become the first person to circumnavigate Britain in an electric Rigid Inflatable Boat (eRIB). Setting off from Lyme Regis on July 13, 2024, Harry's journey covered over 1,700 nautical miles, taking him around the UK coastline. His mission was not only a personal challenge but also a bold statement in support of sustainable marine transportation.

The boat, a 21-foot aluminum-hulled RIB, was powered by a 90kW Evoy electric outboard motor and twin Kreisel batteries, allowing Harry to reach speeds of up to 35 knots. Throughout the journey, Harry made over 40 stops to recharge, relying on a mix of shore power, mobile charging, and support from various marinas across the UK.

This project highlighted the potential of electric propulsion in the marine industry and encouraged the development of infrastructure for electric boats. Harry's journey also brought attention to the importance of clean energy solutions in reducing marine pollution.

The entire challenge took just over a month to complete, and Harry has been widely recognized for his efforts to promote zero-emission boating. His achievement marks a significant milestone in the adoption of electric boats, proving that even the most demanding maritime challenges can be met with sustainable technology.
