🌊 WATERSPORTS (From Issue 9)

A new world record was set earlier this year. The Canadian Water Ski Show team performed the first water ski pyramid behind an e-boat, the Voltari 260.

With a firm pull off the dock, with plenty of torque, the ski team completed this feat on the first attempt. Gliding around the lake in Muskoka Ontario, 8 skiers assembled a three tier pyramid. A drone buzzing around to capture the event was about the only sound those on shore could hear! This e-boat is, as they all are, very quiet. Additional footage was released on Voltari’s social media accounts showing skiers being pulled off the jump and barefooting behind this electric boat.

🏄🏾‍♂️ EFOIL (From Issue 4)

Announced in September 2023, Fliteboard is releasing the Marc Newson (a well known Australian industrial designer) signature e-foil. This entailed the development of an innovative V-foil using uncompromising construction techniques, resulting in a lighter, stiffer, and more responsive product. The V-foil is made of pure carbon and undergoes autoclave curing, achieving a perfect balance of stiffness and highly efficient hydrodynamics. The design is informed by cutting-edge technology, emphasizing the intersection of art and science to create a product that represents "Pure Performance”.

As one of the signature models, the MN86 e-foil is a versatile product designed to accommodate riders of all levels and body types. It is part of the MN range and is particularly suitable for heavier riders and novices due to its larger size. The MN86 features the MN Dual Drive for propulsion, which combines True Glide and Flite Jet technologies, providing a smooth and efficient riding experience. Its wings consist of a Cruiser Jet 1500C and an MN 1300C, offering stability and control. The board has a weight of 27.5kg, a volume of 86 liters, a length of 5'4", and a width of 26", making it a well-rounded and accessible e-foil option for a wide range of riders.

🌊 WATERSPORTS (From Issue 11)

Last week Arc Boats announced moving in to a 150,000 square-foot factory and headquarters. Having raised ~$100 million in funding and sold out their first offering (the Arc One,) this move positions the company to deliver on its commitment to electrify the marine industry - with plans for a mass-market boat launching next year. The team of 80+ staff (and growing) will be working at this facility, located in the Los Angeles area, which is also home to other tech companies such as SpaceX and Rivian. And it would seem Arc Boats is moving fast, as the press release states “…our production line was up and running just hours after the relocation!“.

🛝 PERSONAL WATERCRAFT (From Issue 6)

Skimming across the water on a PWC, with the silence of electrification!

Sending out congratulations to Taiga Motors Corporation on completing production of its 1000th electric vehicle. Rolling off the manufacturing line is an Orca Performance, the company’s fully electric personal watercraft.

In brief, the Orca has up to a 2 hour range, with up to 160 hp. A prompt throttle response of less than 1 millisecond. Get back on the water with an ~3.5 hour (level 2) charge or in just ~40 minutes with level 3 charging.

With boating season over for the colder parts of the world, Taiga Motors is turning its attention to manufacturing its Nomad fully electric snowmobile.

🏁 RACING (From Issue 6)

Arguably the greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL is embracing the electrification of boats. Yep. Tom Brady, news from July 2023, has become a team owner for the E1 World Championship racing series. With the first race scheduled for 2024 (with up to 10 teams), a Youtube video mentions Tom will bring his relentless pursuit of excellence in sport to this racing series. Game on!

Brady joins tennis star Rafael Nadal and Formula 1 racer Sergio Perez as team owners. Star power embracing electric boats (and the associated competition) is amazing to see - we can’t wait to report on these races in 2024.

Learn more about this exciting new racing series that will use a hydrofoil style racing hull with an electric outboard here. Or, this YouTube video covers the Tom Brady announcement.
