🌊 Flux Marine lands $15M to scale electric outboards
Flux Marine has announced a fresh $15 million capital infusion to ramp up production of its high-voltage electric outboards and license the underlying powertrain tech more broadly.
A few key points:
Total funding now > $30M since 2020, putting Flux squarely in the “serious scale-up” category for marine electrification.
The company has fully commercialized its 115 hp high-voltage outboard and modular battery pack, marketed as the only clean-sheet, high-voltage electric outboard currently in production in North America.
The new money funds the shift from a two-year fleet validation program into volume manufacturing, based on real-world use in harsh ocean conditions.
Flux is doubling down on a “propulsion only” strategy: they supply motors, batteries and telematics, while partners like Scout, Highfield, Flagship Pontoons, Hyfoil and Zodiac handle the hulls and customer experience.
Why this matters:
For boat builders, this is a strong signal that a North American HV outboard supplier will be around to support production programs.
For marinas and dealers, you’ll see more “Zodiac/Scout/Highfield – powered by Flux Marine”-style packages showing up in 2026 brochures.
For our directory, Flux’s 115 hp package (and the boats it powers) just moved up the priority list for coverage.

🖌️ EPTechnologies’ solid-state marine batteries: safety first, cycles for days
Danish integrator EPTechnologies (EPT) is quietly building one of the most interesting battery portfolios in marine right now, centred on solid-state tech designed specifically for boats.
Highlights from their DNV-approved “Svenner” HV Solid State Technology Battery:
Uses mostly solid instead of liquid electrolytes, cutting the risk of fire and improving cycle life.
Can withstand severe overcharging, extreme heat and even nail puncture with no thermal runaway in their tests.
Rated life of 10,000+ cycles at 80% DoD, with even higher cycle counts at shallower depth of discharge.
DNV type-approved as a marine battery system – a big deal for commercial craft, classed yachts and passenger vessels.
On the low-voltage side, their LV solid-state batteries target 24 V “house” and 48 V propulsion systems:
LFP chemistry, 25.6 / 51.2 V, 7.16 / 14.33 kWh, IP65, and again 10,000 cycles @ 80% DoD.
Marine Industry News’ deep dive adds some colour: these packs are roughly 30% heavier than EPT’s newest NCM batteries, but deliver ~3× the life and impressive behaviour under abuse (overcharge, crush, puncture) with no fire, no explosion, no smoke in their testing.
What this means in practice:
Workboats, passenger ferries and blue-water cruisers get a battery that’s easier to certify and insure, even if it’s not (yet) the choice for ultra-light high-speed toys.
Expect to see “solid-state inside” show up as a selling point on future electric boats and hybrid refits, especially in commercial projects where lifecycle cost and safety trump weight.

⚙️ Evoy + Taiga: a growing marine-EV power circle
There isn’t a single co-branded “Evoy x Taiga” product… yet. But behind the scenes, the two brands are now part of the same electrification ecosystem – and that’s a big story for marine.
Here’s the chain of events:
In 2024, UK entrepreneur Stewart Wilkinson acquired Taiga Motors, folding it into a group that already included Vita (electric yachts), Evoy (high-output electric motors) and Aqua superPower (fast-charging network).
In May 2025, Taiga restarted production in Montreal and began deliveries of the MY25 Orca electric PWC, featuring a new cooling system that delivers up to 65% more continuous battery power in warm-water use and enables DC fast charging.
Taiga has been brought into a “global alliance of marine electrification leaders” with Vita, Evoy and Aqua superPower.
Why it matters for Evoy and the wider market:
Evoy already supplies 120–400 hp inboard and outboard systems to 20+ countries, targeting 20–50 ft boats with high-output electric drivetrains.
With Taiga in the fold, this group now spans motors (Evoy), yachts (Vita), PWCs & powersport vehicles (Taiga) and charging (Aqua superPower) – basically an end-to-end marine EV stack.
Expect tighter integration between Taiga’s high-performance battery tech and Evoy’s powertrains, plus shared fast-charging infrastructure that works from PWCs up to tenders and dayboats.
For builders and marinas, this signals a future where one ecosystem can supply your propulsion, your PWC toys and your dockside fast-charge – with fewer compatibility headaches.
