🌊 WATERSPORTS

Skimming across the water on a PWC, with the silence of electrification!

Sending out congratulations to Taiga Motors Corporation on completing production of its 1000th electric vehicle. Rolling off the manufacturing line is an Orca Performance, the company’s fully electric personal watercraft.

In brief, the Orca has up to a 2 hour range, with up to 160 hp. A prompt throttle response of less than 1 millisecond. Get back on the water with an ~3.5 hour (level 2) charge or in just ~40 minutes with level 3 charging.

With boating season over for the colder parts of the world, Taiga Motors is turning its attention to manufacturing its Nomad fully electric snowmobile.

🛝 INFRASTRUCTURE

E-boats can ‘fit right in’ to the future, by plugging in at most marinas (already equipped with shore power plug-ins). Stepping up to superchargers may increase the adoption of electric marine vessels. Throwing back to a news item from 2022, one of the first marine superchargers was installed in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

This charger is a partnership between Voltari Marine Electric and the City of Kingston. Located in the City’s downtown Confederation Basin, the e-Pump supercharger uses a CCS J1772 plug and delivers a 160 Kw charge.

 🏁 RACING

Arguably the greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL is embracing the electrification of boats. Yep. Tom Brady, news from July 2023, has become a team owner for the E1 World Championship racing series. With the first race scheduled for 2024 (with up to 10 teams), a Youtube video mentions Tom will bring his relentless pursuit of excellence in sport to this racing series. Game on!

Brady joins tennis star Rafael Nadal and Formula 1 racer Sergio Perez as team owners. Star power embracing electric boats (and the associated competition) is amazing to see - we can’t wait to report on these races in 2024.
