📓 MARKET OUTLOOK
Recent market analyses indicate significant growth in the electric boat sector. According to Mordor Intelligence, the electric boat and ship market is projected to reach USD 7.07 billion in 2024, with an expected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.65%, reaching USD 12.84 billion by 2029. Similarly, Future Market Insights forecasts the global electric boat market to attain USD 6.95 billion in 2024, growing at a CAGR of 10.5% to USD 18.87 billion by 2034. These projections are driven by technological advancements, environmental concerns, and shifting consumer preferences toward sustainable marine transportation.
The adoption of electric propulsion systems is gaining momentum due to their environmental benefits, including zero emissions and reduced impact on marine ecosystems. Governments worldwide are implementing policies to encourage the use of eco-friendly boats, further propelling market growth. For instance, Norway aims to have at least 60 electric ships operating by 2021 and plans to ban fossil fuel-powered ships in UNESCO Heritage-listed fjords by 2026.
Europe is expected to dominate the market, supported by strong government initiatives and a growing demand for sustainable marine mobility. The region's focus on achieving carbon neutrality and reducing emissions is driving the adoption of electric boats and ships, particularly in recreational and leisure sectors. North America and Asia-Pacific are also anticipated to contribute significantly to market growth, with the United States, China, and Japan playing pivotal roles.
The market's moderate consolidation is characterized by the presence of major players and local manufacturers, all striving to leverage advancements in battery technology and digital solutions to gain a competitive edge. As the global economy increasingly prioritizes sustainability, the electric boat market is set to play a crucial role in transforming the maritime industry.
⚙️ COMMERCIAL
SeaBubbles, founded in 2016 by Alain Thébault and Anders Bringdal, is a French startup specializing in the design and manufacture of innovative electric hydrofoil boats intended for urban waterway transportation. Their flagship vessel, the "Bubble," is a fully electric, zero-emission boat that utilizes hydrofoil technology to lift the hull above water, reducing drag and enabling smoother, more efficient travel.
The Bubble is designed to operate in no-wake zones, reaching speeds between 6 to 25 knots. It is powered by two electrically driven propellers, with batteries recharged at docking stations equipped with solar panels and turbines, ensuring an eco-friendly energy cycle.
In 2019, SeaBubbles showcased their "flying" all-electric boat in Miami, highlighting its potential as a sustainable alternative for urban transportation. The vessel's design combines nautical and aviation technologies, employing foils to elevate the hull and reduce energy consumption, while maintaining passenger comfort even in choppy waters.
Expanding their vision of sustainable mobility, SeaBubbles introduced the X-Pearl in 2022, the UAE's first hydrogen-powered flying boat. This model combines the sensations of flying and sailing, offering zero-wave, zero-noise, and zero-emission navigation, and pays homage to the UAE's pearl diving heritage.

Continuing their innovation, SeaBubbles launched the Smart Bubble in 2024, an updated flying boat designed to carry up to eight passengers at speeds of 16 knots. Equipped with retractable foils and an automatic stabilization system, the Smart Bubble enhances energy efficiency and passenger comfort, representing a significant advancement in eco-friendly water transportation.
SeaBubbles' commitment to zero-emission, efficient, and comfortable watercraft positions them as a leader in the evolution of urban mobility, offering a sustainable alternative for cities worldwide.
