🌊 WATERSPORTS

A new world record was set earlier this year. The Canadian Water Ski Show team performed the first water ski pyramid behind an e-boat, the Voltari 260.

With a firm pull off the dock, with plenty of torque, the ski team completed this feat on the first attempt. Gliding around the lake in Muskoka Ontario, 8 skiers assembled a three tier pyramid. A drone buzzing around to capture the event was about the only sound those on shore could hear! This e-boat is, as they all are, very quiet. Additional footage was released on Voltari’s social media accounts showing skiers being pulled off the jump and barefooting behind this electric boat.

Electric boat battery capacity is like the gas tank volume in traditional boats but measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh). It represents the amount of energy a boat's electric propulsion system can store. In simple terms, it's the "fuel" available for the electric motor to propel the boat. The larger the tank, the more miles you can cover before refueling. Similarly, the higher the kWh capacity of an electric boat's battery, the longer it can operate before needing to recharge.

Let's look at some examples of electric boats and their respective battery sizes (with an EV for comparison):

📅 RACING

The Canadian company Taiga Motors Corporation has become the exclusive electric personal watercraft (ePWC) supplier to the upcoming E1 World Championships (all electric powerboat championship). Taiga’s CEO is quoted saying “We are proud to partner with E1 in our common mission to advance sustainable on-water adventures by pioneering cutting-edge electric technologies. We look forwards to supporting the innovative E1 World Championship with Taiga's OrcaTM watercraft."

We assume these ePWCs will be on the water during the upcoming race series, starting in early 2024.
