🌊 RACING
With the completion of the Monaco leg of the E1 Series, team Brady has won 3 of the 4 races this season!
The coverage for these races is top notch, via their YouTube channel. Complete with experienced commentators and graphic overlays, the E1 Series doesn’t seem to be sparing any expense.
In the E1 Series, 9 teams (many with celebrity owners) all use the same boat - the Racebird. This boat features a mid-ship hydrofoil design, closed cockpit, and an electric outboard engine. Teams can use different propellers - to emphasize acceleration or top end speed. The boats also have a ‘boost’ feature. When activated, the boost feature adds a surge of power - but only for a short period of time.
After a qualifying day, 6 heats are run with 3 boats in each heat. A race consists of 5 laps around a course marked with buoys. Once in each race, the boats must complete one long lap. Each team has one male and one female driver that pilot the Racebird once each. The race starts are similar to sailing races - boats must cross the starting line after a 30 second elapsed timer reaches zero.
Pilots need to carefully execute a race strategy - the Racebirds can porpoise significantly leading to slower speeds.
Total points determine which teams make the finals, which are run in two heats - the team with the highest total points throughout the day wins the event.
