🌊 RECREATIONAL
The Optima E10 is a fully electric dayboat designed to prioritize efficiency and sustainable boating. Measuring 10 meters (33 feet) in length with a beam of 3.5 meters (11.5 feet), it offers ample space for up to eight passengers. The vessel's layout includes a double cabin equipped with an electric toilet, making it suitable for day trips and short overnight stays. The open cockpit is arranged with seating for eight around a large table, providing a social space for dining or relaxing. An optional roof can be added to provide weather protection.
The E10's design incorporates a stabilized monohull hull type, combining the efficiency of a multihull with the space-saving beam of a monohull. This innovation reduces drag and enhances stability. The hull design allows for a top speed of 15 knots and a cruising speed of 6 knots. At this cruising speed, the boat boasts an impressive range of up to 200 nautical miles on a single charge, making it suitable for coastal exploration.
Powered by an electric motor and a 120 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the E10 is compatible with both AC and DC fast charging. Although it lacks regenerative capabilities, the vessel's battery system is optimized for low-speed cruising to maximize efficiency. Onboard systems include LED lighting, a compact galley, and a digital navigation system with integrated touchscreen controls. An onboard inverter allows small appliances to be powered during trips.

In 2023, the Optima E10 demonstrated its capabilities by completing a 51-nautical-mile circumnavigation of the Isle of Wight on a single charge. This achievement highlights its reliability and range under real-world conditions.
Future developments by Optima Yachts include the larger Optima E14 model. This planned vessel will feature additional cabins, increased passenger capacity, and extended range, catering to both recreational and commercial markets.
The Optima E10 represents a step forward in electric boating, showcasing practical applications for sustainable propulsion in the recreational boating sector. For more information, visit Optima Yachts.

The Toronto International Boat Show kicked off earlier this week. Here is an Instagram story that shows the building of the indoor lake (1st clip) and someone riding an e-foil on the indoor lake (3rd clip). Water is pumped in from nearby Lake Ontario - temperature is ~54 degrees F (full wetsuits needed). If you’ve ever wondered how much water is needed to fill up a hockey rink to board level - it is one million gallons. Here is link to the live lake view (available only during the duration of the boat show).
